Pink Plaid

You ask "So what's the big deal with pink plaid?"  So here goes it. . .

My partner, Corey and I were invited to a house party by my best friend Miss Hurley who has always been my arm candy when going to social functions and vice versa; hence the gracious invite.  Miss Hurley is about 5'10'' and nearly reaches 6'0" when she dawns her red soled Manolo Blahniks, dark brown hair that has the consistency of fine european silk, a taunt face, and the fullest lips I have ever seen on a middle aged white girl due to her fabulous doctor.  I must say she a wonderful addition to my 6'3'', blonde hair, blue eyed self.

She meet this guy through a friend of a friend of a friend on Halloween and we all know how that goes.  So she had been on UNO date with this guy and he decided it would be a great idea for her to meet his entire extended family during his brother going away party.

Upon arriving I felt this over bearing sense of dread as the entire house was wall to wall with people that I have never meet and would eventually have to exchange some sort of small talk with.  The only saving grace was a guy in his mid thirties that we had labeled Pink Plaid because of his attire.  The gay men consisted of Corey, Pink Plaid, and Myself; except Pink Plaid was married to a gorgeous blonde girl.  This guy was gayor than The Wizard of Oz on Broadway during Pride Weekend in New York City.  I couldn't imagine how his wife was so clueless.  We talked most of the night and I left not knowing his name or number, but Miss Hurley and I did leave with a new code word:

Pink Plaid- a straight married that is totally gay but in denial

Welcome. . .

. . . to my simple attempt at transposing my menial thoughts into an extravagant sum of texts.

We each go about our days observing, mentally noting, and commenting on the world around us.  But do we ever go any deeper than just the surface? For a small number of us, yes.  For the majority of us, no.  We observe and carry on with our daily lives just being;  being a male or female, a Republican or Democrat, a white collar worker or a blue collar worker. At any one point do we cease at just being, but doing?  Do we ever truly recognize, analyze, and reflect upon the happenings around us. . .

I hope by sharing my simple thoughts we may stop being, but start doing.

T.G.
